Last February, Microsoft announced that it wanted to change the way search engines discover new and updated content. Search engines currently use page scraping to find new content or content updates. After the search engine robot login page, it will crawl the links on the page, and then follow-up deep crawling based on the links provided on the page, which is equivalent to creating a powerful website index.
But Bing hopes to change the traditional collection method, at least try. Bing encourages content publishers to submit new or updated content to the URL submission tool. This tool will crawl the page based on the submitted URL, instead of relying on other pages to find this page
Bing wants webmasters, publishers, SEO and content management systems (such as WordPress) to use Bing’s tools or APIs to submit new URLs. It also reduces Bing’s reliance on crawling, which reduces the resources required. The URL submission tool will use a quota-based system to prevent spam. Having a verified site in Bing Webmaster Tools has accumulated some age and will help increase the quota for that particular site.
